The Search For The Next Big Food Entrepreneur 2012

Entrepreneur Philippines, Yummy magazine, and Mercato Centrale are on the lookout for The Next Big Food Entrepreneur! A press launch was held last August 24 at Manang’s Chicken where the contest was officially announced to members of the press.

 The Next Big Food Entrepreneur

The Next Big Food Entrepreneur aims to find the next successful food entrepreneurs who have unique products to offer today’s competitive market. Coupled with a sound business plan and the right marketing strategies, participants can have the chance to win P100, 000 cash prize for their business, get a three to six months rent-free stay in Mercato and/or Moderno, and magazine features in Entrepreneur Philippines and YUMMY magazine.

The competition has two categories -- student and open category. In each category, a minimum of one person and a maximum of three persons are allowed to join. Participants must submit a fully accomplished application form, 2x2 photo of each member of the team, and food samples of their product on September 17 to 19, 2012 from 3PM to 8PM at Summit Media.

The contest proper will contain four stages wherein participants will undergo a series of entrepreneurship classes in various business disciplines, participate in the actual Mercato Centrale market for two months, submit a business plan, and prepare a 15-minute presentation of the business plan along with a taste test of their food to the panel.

Participants will be judged 50% based on the creativity/uniqueness of the product, profitability, operational efficiency, and marketing strategies included in the business plan, and 50% on the unique taste of the food, food and booth presentation.
