Spiral Manila. December 2016. A long overdue post, since we don't have much time to make a story about this as it was an intimate family dinner and a birthday celebration as well which also falls on NYE.

Accommodation at Sofitel comes with a complimentary buffet breakfast. For the NYE special at Spiral Manila, you have to make an advanced reservation and complete payment before the 31st.  New Year's Eve dinner rate for this occasion is set at P7,599 per person and half price for the kids.

The buffet dinner presented with different flavors by culinary artisans, the well talked epicurean treasures spanning 21 dining ateliers. The midnight countdown feast starts at 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM with a glass of champagne to toast to the New Year.

Sofitel is best know for International dishes served in first-class dining setting. Spiral buffet has a reputation for food authenticity and generous buffet stations. Get ready to dress up and impress yourself to something special.

What are the flavors we enjoyed most:

One thing is for sure that the dishes are authentic in taste and it captures the epitome of luxe dining: the vibe, personalized service and good food!

The seafood station! Being an early bird, we get the chance to savor the giant lobsters, prawns, oysters and crabs. So don't get excited as it was just the beginning.

Sushi and Sashimi Station. The Japanese selection is one of our favorites. There was an abundance of sushis, makis and tempuras; all through your heart's content. They have the US Angus beef and seafood as you wait while they cook/grill your selection.

The best compliment for your meat and seafood are the Salad and Appetizer selection, greek salad, german salad, you name it they have it!

North Indian Food Bar. The Indian selection is also something to ponder. "Masarap talaga!"

Indian cuisine, underrated but it's freaking good and healthy!

L' Epicerie. The iconic cheese room was best during the breakfast buffet, leave it that way.

La Patisserie. Same with my take on the cheese room, the French pastries are best for mornings.

The Filipino cuisine is worth trying; they have Pepita's lechon, crocodile sisig, al pobre and other Pinoy dishes. The al pobre was actually recommended by one of the chef.

The rest of the Asian Food. They also have Chinese cuisine, Thai, and Korean. Must try the Chinese section of the kikiam, they are really authentic and the sweet desserts.

Chocolaterie. The dessert station features artisanal chocolates from all over the area, from truffles, mini cakes, chocolate fondants, macarons, pastillas, cream puffs, pralines, chocolate bars, liquor cakes, etc.

Creamery. Aside from the gelato scoops and crepes, they also offer Pinoy dessert here like the "ginataan bilo-bilo".

Complimentary birthday cake.

Mind you these are not free at all (LOL) You need to tipped these guys in $ or so.

Surprisingly, at the height of our food feast, the Marcos family arrived in groups. The area with dividers adjacent to our table are reserved for the Marcoses. We saw former first lady Imelda Marcos in red terno as she entered the dining area in a wheelchair. We get to bump into Borgy and his partner at the Sushi station. Bongbong was also within our range when he filled his plate. The Marcos siblings, Sandro and younger brothers are all over the place. Apart from that there were other public figures who came in. We cannot be bothered because we're busy with our evening agenda, that is to enjoy the night's fine dining. Charot!

Overall rate:

They say it was incomparable with other hotel's buffet restaurants. It was a once in lifetime experience to have memorable dining with the family. Make the most out of your stay and accommodation. Indulge at the lavish dish selection. Keep in mind to always eat in moderation in a refined manner (*wink)!
