What to eat at Old Baguio Cafe

January 28, 2023. Kalayaan, Quezon City, Philippines. We came here for the coffee and batirol. Unexpectedly, the Cordillera vibes makes the interior clamor for strong, warm coffee. Baguio feels right in the middle of bustling Kalayaan streets. I get to see the old Baguio memorabilia, such as the sungka,  the spring-covered guy in a barrel, wooden plates and bowls, and native wooden bags that were once displayed in our homes.

The coffee blends are actually "matapang" and aromatic flavors. The fully loaded pan-seared classic burger is homemade with house special cheese sauce and is layered with cheddar, mayo-mustard, onions, pickles, tomatoes and lettuce. The dish can be shared, we're telling you, the beef patty is so "thick" it can actually made two more burgers. (*wink) Ask for Tabasco or any hot sauce available to meet its full potential.

Chef Aldrin took the time to say how the meal was and the whole experience. He described the process of preparing the dish and that most of the coffee beans they used are sourced directly from the North.

They mentioned that the Baguio-based as well as the second branch in Sucat, Paranaque, are now closed. Due to their active social media presence and persistence, the cafe managed their daily operations throughout the pandemic through food delivery. Now that the foot traffic is back, spending time enjoying wonderful meals with music, culture, and the arts is worthwhile.

They greet their clients with warm smiles, after all, it's been a while since the restaurant slayed the limelight again. The cafe is typically jam-packed at night, as they are back getting busy these days.
