Best Flavors at Paghanapin Ice Cream

Paghanapin Ice Cream Tawiran Branch/ Paghanapin Dos
July 2026. Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro. The first time I visited Calapan was in 2005; back then, we didn't have the luxury of time to explore the town, but I heard about this ice cream brand when we talked about it at home in Quezon City. Time changes, Calapan City is now bustling with numerous food entreps offering fusions of recipes. This year, I made sure that I'd try to find time and try out Calapan's old "kainan" and restaurants and get to know the stories behind the small businesses they built.
Nahanap na! 🍦
“Paghanapin” when the locals search Calapan for the ice cream vendor (the father who owns Paghanapin) as he travels around selling his sorbetes cart.
Paghanapin I (bayan) is the original ice cream shop. The family came from Bauan, Batangas and later, in 1976, migrated the sorbetes business in Calapan City.
Paghanapin II which was located a few meters from Paghanapin I, was operated by siblings. Hence, “suki” often suggests “doon sa dos mas masarap.” As time progresses, Paghanapin II eventually transferred in Masipit and is now known as Paghanapin Ice Cream Tawiran.
