This is a sponsored post. All opinions are mine.Hodai opened its doors in May 2019 marking their 100th day with an anniversary promo, for the whole month of August and September. Owned/operated by Korean siblings, Hodai imbibes a fusion of Japanese and Korean culture in a Philippine setting.

Korean restaurants now are competitive, the way they observed how Filipinos enjoy the Japanese food in spite of the high-end market it caters. While Korean restaurants in the market share a fair amount of followers. All sorts of thematic Korean are popping in and out of Manila and their prices are less expensive compared to Japanese restaurants. “Actually, Korean and Japanese ingredients are very similar. In Korea, there are many Japanese restaurants, so what they did (the Japanese chefs) is to develop their recipes using Korean ingredients. They were able to cut the cost a little lower,” according to Ms. Sam Chung. The same concept they thought in putting up Hodai, to make it more affordable so other (common) people can taste both cultures without sacrificing the quality of food. With Hodai, majority of the ingredients are imported from Japan and Korea, while the supplemental ingredients such as the flour, sugar, salt, and other condiments are locally procured. They used Japanese ingredients and mixed it up with Korean ingredients. “Actually, Japanese food is more salty and sweet, but Koreans love spicy and salty food. Based on my experience for five years here in the Philippines, many Filipinos who eat in Korean resto likes something spicy” said Ms. Chung.
