Things to add to your cart from DSP Manila Grocers
Food staples and the rest of the food byproducts that we ordinarily buy personally from the groceries or store are now conveniently available online. The boom in e-commerce in the Philippines has drastically changed since the 2nd quarter of 2020. Consumer trust and patronage came in handy with the available online selling apps and impacted the purchasing power of every household. In a post-pandemic state, the forecast for e-commerce will continually grow now that almost all of us search for products from a mobile app to do our shopping.
How it started
In 2010, DSP Manila was just a side hustle for second-hand children's stuff they sold on eBay. They went until Instagram came in to replace eBay and Multiply. From second-hand, since some of the stuff from home is idle and nobody uses it. They sell whatever is available during their free time. These are mostly imported items that cover both children and women items. In 2020, they set-up a shop in Shopee, a move to experiment with the trends in e-commerce. The only items on display are used apparels, second-hand books, and some washable face masks made with reusable mesh/cotton spandex face masks with filter pockets. That washable face mask was their very first transaction that came in June 2020.
At the height of the pandemic, they had enough food supplies to last until a year or two. These are imported stuff that came from abroad. Since supplies are abundant, they decided to sell some of the goods to convert it into money where it can be used to buy their local needs. That is how they started, although they still considered it a small income opportunity since they only do it as a freelance shop to sell their extra items.
